Victoria, BC

Being so close to Victoria, who could resist a ferry ride? Here is a shot of the pier at Port Angeles from our ferry.

Our last visit to Victoria was in 1990. Boy, what changes there has been to this city in those 18 years. Many large condo buildings as well as hotels have erected on both sides of the bay.

The float planes were as active coming in and out of the bay as were boats. We found them interesting because it isn't a sight that we are used to seeing.

What would a visit be without an obligatory picture of The Empress Hotel.
While we were there, we went through the Royal BC Museum. We thoroughly enjoyed the museum. They have wonderful displays of mounted wildlife (the birds of prey are fabulous), exhibits on the history of British Columbia including the First People, and many more exhibits that take up two floors of a large building. A wonderful museum well worth seeing. The next time we visit, we will allow more time to thoroughly see all exhibits.

The waterfront area is beautiful. We were lucky to have picked a very nice place for lunch. Soon it was time to board the ferry back to Port Angeles. What would a visit to Canada be without a picture of the Canadian goose? (one of our favorite waterfowl).

We saw no wildlife in either direction but the ride was enjoyable none the less. It was colder coming back and the water rougher but it was still enjoyable. Another nice day.
