Goodbyes and Filet Mignon

We were up and able to wave and say goodbye to Don and Bev as they left.

Basically, we just hung around the fifth wheel for the day. John has been wiping the rig down with Protect All which is a wax and UV protectorant. It is a big job but with all the rain that we have had, it has pretty much washed all of the dirt and grime off the rig so at least we don't have to do that. I've been told that I can help with the bottom half because ladders and roofs aren't my thing.

We met up with Art and Connie from San Ramon and went to Hill City to have $8.95 bacon wrapped Filet Mignon (6 oz) - 8 oz for $10.95. Dinner came with salad, bread, baked potato, and the steak. It was quite good and quite the bargain. This is all the Alpine Inn serves for dinner. They are also known for their desserts. John and I shared a brownie/ice cream concoction which was good. I think with tip, the dinner came to $30. No credit cards but they would accept out of town/state checks????

The four of us shared our backgrounds and the decision to retire and RV (us full-time, Art is ready to go full-time but Connie, not so much.) We are virtually the same ages, shared a lot of the same decision making processes. They are out on their longest trip since their retirement in August of last year.

We walked the main street of Hill City and soon headed home. As it was getting close to dusk, we saw a lot of deer near the road. It always makes you a little wary because seeing dead deer along the various roadways is not uncommon around here. We invited Art and Connie in to chat and spent quite a while just sharing and laughing. This seems to be a common exchange between RVers. It is quite a nice way to live.
