The wind blew like made today - 50 mph wind gusts out of the south. Not thinking the wind was that bad, we set out to go to Dodge City. After going seven miles, we changed our minds. We didn't need to drive 40 miles in this kind of wind. We did stop to get fuel and John got pelted with small rocks with every gust of wind. Heading home, John saw a truck and fifth wheel heading west that was pushed against the shoulder with the trailer leaning badly. Why the driver just kept on driving in such conditions is beyond us. We sure wouldn't.
Before returning home, we did get a picture of Kinsley's claim to fame:
Who knew that we were truly in the heartland of the US.
