January 2011 has proven to be a very busy month of socializing. The park has filled up and along has come several Excel rigs. Now, this is a big deal because normally we don't see that many Excel's (our fifth wheel brand) in one location other than at the service center. We have had the pleasure of meeting Bruce and Jenna Brod, Larry and Billie Eberle, Ralph and Cheryl Schey, and Tom and Donna Clapham. We have also met many SOBs (some other brand) owners who we enjoy speaking with. We have found that sometimes our walk around the park which normally takes 20 minutes can take an hour or two as we stop to chat with people. What fun!
January has also proven to be busy with doctor appointments. I went to the doctor with one complaint and after multiple tests, I've been diagnosed with a hernia and a non-functioning gallbladder. So, it looks like surgery is going to be on the schedule for February. Oh joy! Update: 3/3/11 Surgeon says I do not have a hernia but rather connective tissue that is thinning and tearing which is a part of aging (never heard of that before). I guess that is good news. Bottom line, only the gallbladder will need surgery.
After speaking with Ralph and Cheryl and Bruce and Jenna, we have really gotten the Alaska trip bug. Both couples have regaled us with stories and provided us with videos to watch. Friends Gay and Cheri Sharp really started us thinking about a trip when they made the journey a few years ago and we followed their blog. We were hesitant to take our beautiful home on the journey before talking to so many who say that the trip is so doable if you just take it slow over the frost heaves. So along with friends Rick and Y, we are starting to plot and plan a trip through British Columbia, the Yukon, and north to Alaska for the summer of 2012.
